We’ve been in a bit of a funk this week, but a few of these obsessions helped brighten our days. Do not proceed unless you’re ready to commit hours of your life to the below sources of entertainment. Here’s what we’ve been up to in this week’s And Then We Tried obsessions.

Love Yurts

I got so wrapped up in Love Yurts on DIY Network last night that I stayed up until midnight watching it. That’s three hours past my preferred bedtime. A couple in Hawaii builds yurts for people and while the yurts are super cool, my favorite part is that the couple is so talented. They are both very creative, resourceful, and handy and I loved watching them design and build custom stairs and furniture for the yurts. Legit obsessed, you have to watch it.

Upcoming Whitney documentary

Just like Hannah got lost watching hours of musicals, I got full on obsessed with the upcoming documentary for Whitney Houston. Full details: comes out next Friday, 7/6/18, in theaters. Looks to be kinda sad (because we know the ending) but can’t wait to see it and hopefully hear “I Will Always Love You” on loop through the entire two hours.

Hot Broadway Guys Singing

Wow did I spiral into a hole this week. Is there anything better than a hot guy singing? Yes. A hot theater guy singing. This particular spiral started with this album of Aaron Tveit performing live back in 2013.

Then, of course, I had to search for him singing “Run Away With Me” on YouTube.

Which led to Jeremy Jordan singing “Run Away With Me.”

Which led to Jeremy Jordan singing “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”

Which led to another two hours of me watching random YouTube videos. Enjoy!

But Then I Just Watched Musicals

Did you know there are a bunch of musicals on Netflix? I stayed up late watching The Last Five Years, The Phantom of the Opera, and Newsies the other day. And then last night, Zac and I went to see Bandstand in theaters. Regal Cinemas did a limited release of a taping of the original Broadway cast’s performance. It was really good! Not sure if they’ll do something similar to that in the future, but you should check it out if they do!

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
