Obsessions: 04.13.18

Tickets for the Cleveland run of Hamilton go on sale this morning, so it’s safe to say that we’ll be a little distracted for the next hour or so. Other than planning our ticket-buying strategy, here’s what we’ve been into for this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Michelle

These Sweet Babies in Ink

I got my pet portrait tattoos last night and I AM OBSESSED. They turned out so great and I spent the whole appointment heaping praise on Lauren. Well, by the whole appointment I mean any time I wasn’t frozen in pain and breaking Erika and Hannah’s fingers.

Schitt’s Creek

schitts creek obsessions

I know Hannah already mentioned this a couple weeks ago, but I was a little late to the party on this one. I’m fully obsessed now and just want to watch Schitt’s Creek all the time.

Rent the Runway Unlimited

rent the runway

I’ve been eyeing the unlimited version of Rent the Runway (after Michelle’s epic search for the perfect LBD rental) and I finally went for it this month since I can rent some things for the wedding and my brother’s graduation. The unlimited plan let’s you select four items and keep them however long you’d like, while also being able to swap them out for other items. My first selections arrived and I love how easy Rent the Runway makes it. Everything is delivered in a garment bag and really easy to ship back so you can swap things out. If you want to try for yourselves, they are running a special which makes the unlimited option $99 a month instead of the usual $159. Or if individual rentals is more your thing, you can use our referral code for $30 off a $60 rental.

Amazon Prime Wardrobe

prime wardrobe

Call me a sucker (I like to call it early adopter) but after Hannah shared this with us yesterday, I immediately tried it out. It may be too early to tell if I’m obsessed but I’m at least obsessed with the idea. With Prime Wardrobe, you can select up to 8 items that Amazon will let you try for 7 days, risk free, and only pay for what you keep. You guys already know I had my own sunglasses obsession a few weeks ago but now I’m ordering a whole bunch of sunglasses from Prime Wardrobe for the fiancé to try. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Wild Wild Country

I was too busy falling in love with Schitt’s Creek to get into Wild Wild Country when it first came out, but I made up for it this week. The six-part Netflix documentary about the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his thousands of sannyasins is so well done and fascinating. I finished it in two nights, it’s that good. I had a little bit of background on the cult and their eventual crimes thanks to an episode of My Favorite Murder, but this in-depth look takes it so much further. With original footage from inside their commune to present-day interviews with some major players, it really gets to the heart of their community and the mindset of everyone during that time.

For those who have watched it: is it wrong that I kind of love Sheela? I know she’s maniacal, but she’s also so smart and fascinating. And I could listen to her saying “tough titties” for the rest of my life.

The Tenth Anniversary of the “Dinner Party” Episode of The Office

Another TV update! I got deep into watching blooper reels from The Office a few nights ago, and some of the best bloopers are from the episode “Dinner Party.” Well, little did I know, this week marked the tenth anniversary of that hilarious episode, and Rolling Stone celebrated with this article featuring actors and crew members who were there. It’s a great read if you’re a fan of The Office (and really, who isn’t?).

This has been another week of And Then We Tried Obsessions, where we share whatever we’re obsessed with each week. Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
