Fall Cleveland Blogger Meet up at The Salvaged Boutique

I wasn’t able to make it to the last Cleveland blogger meet up because I was laid up with mono, so I was excited that I was healthy enough to go to the November meet up last Wednesday at The Salvaged Boutique. We made a fall pumpkin craft and enjoyed cocktails from Watershed Distillery.

We started out the night doing some solid mingling and had some snacks. Full disclosure: Hannah and I mingled with each other and scoped out all the cute holiday decorations in The Salvaged Boutique. We’ll try to be more social at the next meet up. Then Jen from Watershed Distillery showed us how to make a delicious Apple Brandy cocktail called the Apple Brandy Sparkle, we’ll have the recipe up on Wednesday with a few of our other favorite fall cocktails. It was hilarious watching the recipe get scaled up for a full party, a full bottle of brandy + a full bottle of maple syrup = YUM.

Kathy and Karen walked us through the process of making our ombre paper mache pumpkins using Wise Owl chalk paint. I’m pretty skeptical of chalk paint on furniture but liked using it for the pumpkin craft. The matte finish was perfect on the paper mache. Hannah and I got to sit with Leah (By Travel and Error) who generously organized this event and the last one and it was nice to finally meet her in person.

We couldn’t get the gold lettering to stick to Hannah’s pumpkin because we miiiiiiight have used a million layers of paint to get that ombré, but they still turned out pretty cute!

Thanks to Leah for organizing, Kathy and Karen for hosting us at The Salvaged Boutique, Jen from Watershed Distillery for keeping us boozed up, and Stella & Shay Beauty Bar and Plum City Designs for sharing some swag with us in the goodie bags!

We promise next time we’ll try to talk to other people and not just ourselves.

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
