Obsessions 09.01.17

Before we dive into this week’s obsessions, we want to take a minute to address the devastation that has hit Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. While there are plenty of ways to help, we suggest donating to make sure that the displaced pets in the Houston area are taken care of. If you can, please consider donating to the SPCA of Texas, who is working to provide disaster relief to affected pets. Even better? Donate through Momma’s Gone City, who is matching all donations to the SPCA of Texas made through her Facebook page. She also has a great list of other places to donate.

And now onto our regularly scheduled And Then We Tried obsessions.

Craigslist + Mid Century Modern Dressers

This week I sold a couple of dressers I had been hoarding and now I’ve fallen back into the habit of stalking Cleveland Craigslist for amazing vintage furniture. Most of the pieces need some work, but if you can see past the terrible photos and the chipped wood, there are some diamonds in the rough out there. I was sharing my Cleveland Craigslist favorites and remixes for a while there, should I get back into that? For now, here are two mid century modern dressers I’m eyeing:

This one has no legs, but you can fix that up with the steps I took for my dresser

It is listed for $100 and is in Medina

1960’s Sterling Lindor Set

This set looks amazing and the price is great. Someone, please snatch it up! Listed at $350 for the whole set and it’s in Rocky River.

I finally made it down to Folia Collective, an adorable plant store in Pasadena. This place is seriously adorable and carries indoor plants plus cute cards, pins, and accessories. If you happen to have spare time in Pasadena be sure to check it out!

Thayers Witch Hazel

Thayers alcohol-free toner

Seriously loving this alcohol-free toner from Target. I’ve been using the Rose Petal but it also comes in Cucumber, Lavender, Lemon, and Original. I always used an acne astringent before this and realized it was too harsh for my skin. Making this switch has done wonders so far and fingers crossed it keeps working!

Pick Up Lines That Would Actually Work on Me

This post from The Hairpin is cracking me up. “Me and my buddy here are in the middle of a debate and I think you may be able to settle it for us. He says Casey Anthony is guilty, I say she’s innocent. Do you happen to know every single detail about the case off the top of your head?” Yes, yes I do. Marry me.

Everlane Denim

Remember last week when I admitted I’ll try just about anything Glossier produces? Same goes for Everlane, and their brand new denim line is dropping September 7! You know I’m already on the waitlist to try out their ethically made, affordable jeans.

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
